All About Twitter Music

Hey everyone!

In case you didn’t hear, Twitter recently launched a new extension of their service called Twitter Music. We’ve been playing with it for the last week or two and wanted to give you the details.

The service is both an app iOS devices AND also available via a website. (Sorry, Android users, Twitter has said they’re still developing an app for you. Hopefully soon.) Both the app and the website really focus on music discovery, which can be great for new or growing artists just like you.

Here’s how it works…if a fan finds a song that they like, they can play it for 30 seconds. Logging into a Spotify Premium or Rdio account will unlock full length songs. The app features artists that a user already follows, and recommends new music that the user might like.

Your music might already be featured in the app. Twitter Music finds music to play by finding music links sent in tweets. So, be sure to include a link to your iTunes song the next time you send a tweet (just don’t be spammy about it).

We’re hearing that Twitter Music is not able to find artists and their music efficiently. We anticipate that Twitter’s ability to discover the correct Twitter accounts and music will improve as the service evolves.

This app can be another piece of your music promotion plan. Don’t forget to use the services included with your SongCast membership to promote your music.

Have you tried Twitter Music, yet? You can download the application from the iOS App Store. You can also check out the web version of Twitter Music at https://music.twitter.com/.
