App of the Month – Seenth.is

While most music fans may roll their eyes at yet another music discovery service, newly-launched service Seenth.is has an interesting twist to it which makes it valuable to music fans and artists.  Seenth.is offers some unique resources for musicians not currently available in other apps.

The App Of The Month: Seenth.is

Seenth.is is an artist discovery app. Its purpose is to curate and concentrate all social media posts from top artists, so that fans can have an all-in-one source for their favorite bands. As an aggregator, it works extremely well, quickly delivering results from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud, and more.

Its integrated media player makes it simple to play supported formats, like SoundCloud uploads, although like many iOS apps, it lacks compatibility with YouTube. For bands that like to upload a lot of rare material to SoundCloud, it’s a great resource for discovering tracks you’ve never heard before.

However, where Seenth.is gets interesting, and makes it rank among our musicians’ resources as well, is that it also follows fans of those bands. You can select a fan feed that allows you to see what’s hot among listeners as well, and that creates a great opportunity for real-time monitoring and feedback based on your fans’ reactions.

The downside is that, at the moment, the selection in Seenth.is is a bit sparse. It’s got several hundred of the top acts in its database, but it’s likely going to take them awhile to curate the various social media feeds everyone has going. However, they’ve had a strong start and a lot of support from artists.

This trend of making apps that are both fan and musicians’ resources is one we want to support as well.  Even though it’s still working the kinks out, there’s already a lot to like about Seenth.is.
