Tips for a Succesful Musicians Website

Having your own musician’s website is one of those things that you don’t need immediately, but sooner or later, you’re going to find reasons to want one as part of your online music marketing strategy. As your act gets bigger, your fans are going to want a centralized place to go for all your latest news, releases, and upcoming shows. That’s exactly what a good website should do.

So, when it comes time to add a website to your box of online music marketing tools, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind!

Creating An Effective Music Marketing Website online_music_marketing

1. Don’t autoplay music. Yes, even a musician’s website really should wait for permission before blaring music. Auto-playing audio is virtually always distracting or annoying for web surfers, so keep things quiet until they ask for sound.

2. Keep the bandwidth requirements reasonable. It’s tempting to go all-out with a flashy website full of animations and design elements, but you’ll ultimately be seeing fewer visitors if you go that route. Remember that music fans are browsing on mobile devices, so keep things lightweight. (Then they’ll have more data left for downloading your tracks!)

3. Include a blog. If you’re going to have a website, start up a blog that goes along with it. Besides giving you another outlet for communicating with your fans, blogs are great for your online music marketing. They’re easily shared on social media, and help boost your SEO as well.

4. Put links into your videos. Make sure all the videos you upload to YouTube and other channels include links directly back to your website. Once your website is live, you’re going to want to use all your other social media outlets to try to funnel people towards it.

5. Keep updating. For your website to remain visible on Google, it needs to be updated fairly regularly. Besides, only a few things look more sad than a website that hasn’t been updated in years.  Remember to say up on your website’s posts, and keep giving your fans reasons to come back!
